Kick Start Your Heart! <3
When I was a pledge I participated in the Yell Like Hell competition and we borrowed shirts from the older girls from their biker themed date party. The shirt had a squirrel on a motorcycle and the theme was “Kick Start Your Heart”. (If anyone still has one take a photo and I’ll post it with this blog). For some reason those shirts have always stuck out in my memory. Maybe it was the excitement and energy that we have when we are first joining Alpha Gam, or maybe it is a memory of some great friendships that were being formed. There is no time like the present to reconnect with your sisters and to get involved with the Epsilon Kappa Alumnae Chapter. You might catch up with some old friends you haven’t talked to in years, and you might make new friendships at the same time! I would love to see many of your bright, smiling faces at one or more of the exciting events we have planned for the year.
We have two events coming up on July 24th that will take place in Pittsburg. Starting that morning we will be hosting a Garage Sale that will raise funds to support the Chapter. If you have some items left over from Spring cleaning and want to donate them to the sale we would be happy to take them off your hands. We ask that items be pre-priced and clothing be clean and hanging if at all possible.
Later that same evening we are bringing back an old classic – Christmas in July. This event will be a cookout and social gathering complete with an AGD Family Christmas Tree. Bring an ornament with your name and initiation year and we will hang the ornaments much like the Horton’s on Days of our Lives! :) Husbands and significant others are welcome to attend!
In my many volunteer endeavors I often think back to a note that I received way back in 1994 from my Pledge Mom – Amanda Runyon that said something along the lines of “you will get out of it what you put into it”. Apparently I decided I wanted to get a lot out of it! :) We are all in different places in our lives and have other things going on, but if nothing else, I hope that you can join us for some fun times this year. I may not even make everyone shake their bushy tails… but don’t count on it!
Loyally,
Susan
